I do any of you have anything not in mind or something you'd like to talk to about? Maybe we could continue talking about the unification of the mind. I mean, so I guess there's no mind in in the end to be unified, but for our purposes there... There's no no. Well, what's very. Don't mind to. You what. There's... Well, I'm just wondering what we have mind where to say that. I guess I'm thinking of relative but. So in an absolute sense. There's no... It's all one... In an internet I find. Yeah. That's right.

Not a relative now you're now level. Yes. Yeah. That's right. And it absolute a sense. There's knowing one to be enlightened and no one might momentum to be game. So there's no there is no suffering if there's no him suffering right absolutely well. On the relative level that is suffering and we we do want to reach the end of suffering. There there is a kind enlighten put suffering. And there is the individual line that Were used thinking of was being one thing, but it's not real... Yeah. Okay. So go ahead.

I just wanted to clarify that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just thinking looking... Okay, breaking it down. So in the traditional key learn of the five aggregates and The way I've learned it is there's form, which is sort of been taught a separate from mine in the other four aggregates are mine, but as i've been noticing, they're not separate. Or can't really separate form from mind. You know, sort if I have a thought, I feel it in my body and feelings my body create thoughts. In my case, if I'm not feeling strong.

So then ranking it down when you're talking about the input. So that... That's sort of a general definition of mine that I've picked up over time. But breaking it great unification of the mind down. What what are the different layers we're thinking about? Like, I I guess what I see it on a more superficial level is thoughts, feelings, plans, memories. Mh. Yeah. Well, if okay. When we examine them the mike, we'll find that. It is many different processes. It's not a thing. It's it is a collection of processes.

And there are many of these processes that are going on Ante parallel. Simultaneously. But in parallel, so in a sense, you could visualize the mind best being. Cut in to slices this way. Used the word layers, but there's also layers, you know, I so those you could probably make some divisions in the third dimension as well. There's many different process that are going on. Some beneath the surface from a parent and not awareness. But even those even at the same time that are operating material. The other thing is that these processes are higher arranged in a way that I if I can express very clearly, but There are little tiny processes that take care of little tiny jobs.

And they are grouped together and orchestrated by another process at a higher level that accomplishes a more complex task by by coordinating the activity of these lower loan with processes and so it builds up not way. So this is the kind of thing that more you examine the way your mind words or ordinarily around a daily basis that you discover. And and, you know, you do want to this is not just a a nice idea to understand until intellectually. It's something that you want to become aware of in your indirect experience.

And the reason is when you become aware of its nature has been multiple processes operating semi autonomously, yet interacting with each other. The... What you experience and the way you experience your wife starts to become really clear. It's like it provides a lot of a aha with the cross. But some of the different ways that you can, you know, one of the ways, That when the Buddha taught this, he divided up the mind was according to six senses. This was a this was a traditional view that was around before and he was born.

But he and but everybody was familiar with it, so when he wanted to teach the nature of the mine, he took the idea of the six senses and showed that correspond to each of the successes, was a whole domain of mental function started was going on by itself. And you can see this, if you if you look at... If you look at your mind, fairly easy me to see. So within the realm of I've seeing, there is there is a first that the sense of saying, but there is a part of your line that interprets that sensor information and not only interprets it tax on.

You know, we've used the example of you're not necessarily conscious of it, but the tail white sank on the car front of you And so there's a whole part in your mind that has nothing to do if your consciousness of the present moment. But has an intelligence that knowledge in my understanding, which can doing things like producing action to stop and do it, it know, evaluate the distance and how rapidly are closing and and very accurately determine how much pressure, but the brake fall will make you stop at a reasonable time.

And completely has nothing to do with the concerts part. So this is an example of the visual mine. We all have a a a tactile while sensor mine, which is operating likewise on its own. Sometimes we're conscious what it's going. And sometimes we're not conscious with what it's done, but it's always operating. Every moment, sensory information from their body is building into the mind that the part of mine is primary job is to deal with sensor information is evaluating that information. And responding to it in a lot of different ways.

Some of that information, it's storing in case it might be useful later. Some of that it's acting on immediately whether you're conscious of it or not is you're uncomfortable you mean that part of your mind, will adjust your volume more time Yeah If the mosquito is writing you it will do something to get rid in the biting the mosquito. When, I say it memorized it. Or or remembers is it. So you said, If there's a little tick sensation on your shin, that part of your mind. And that's still talking on constant processes here.

It will take that information and It was there briefly it's gone now it decides well. Doesn't seem to be important to go it save it. And then if ten seconds later there's another tick sensation, and on a slightly different part your. Your mind will take that current sensation and the one that it's saved from little while ago and say Oh, I think there's an amp probably not or something like that. Might bring that to your conscious extension and you'll look down rush animal. See. Okay. So with each of these...

With each of the senses, there's a whole domain of your mind that is in charge of. Burning that sensory information. And it does interact with the others. It correlates late, you know, the visual information correlated with auditory information But one in six senses is the the sense. That is aware of mental object, like thoughts and images, memories, emotions and so forth. So that whole part of client. And then it is aware of of thoughts and ideas and motions and so forth better. Right. Does the same thing.

Yet. This information that's horizon. And it produces all kinds of actions in response to that. Some of this becomes conscious and some of it doesn't. You'd have a lot of unconscious thinking activity that don't so. Right? And the fact that this part of your mind is operating unconsciously a lot of the time is evident problem. The fact that you'll have a problem that, you know, you can't see a solution to and then just out of the glue a little while later on sudden then after will pop up. It's because that's thinking feeling by has been working on the problem.

Or we'll be trying remember where you where you put something and then the memory will come or that part near mind. So that's one way that you can see that you have all these different you have your mind divided into to at least large groups associated with census. And I won't go into it but some of the people have studied neuro physiology and and the way that that our kind of organisms evolve see that as these different sensory capabilities develop, large, there were large organizations or nervous tissue that developed for the sake and processing that information.

So dividing the lined up this way actually corresponds to the way it is anatomical structured. And the way it developed if you look back at a series of all kinds of different grains forward aggressive of evolution from very simple organisms up to like that. This is always that mike is divided But the buddha spoke about that and pointed out that you need to come to understand the the nature... And and this has to do with the form and the line too, which you mentioned, because in the ordinary way of looking at thing people consider the body and the mind to be two different things.

Quite distinct each other. And Va buddha on that in terms of the five aggregate, And you said, well, you got your body? Or and you've got the mine in my consists of feelings and perceptions and natural constructs and consciousness participants. But it is a fact that when you begin to look at it closely you discovery that well aggregate foreign is really all mine as well. Because your body all needs us in your mind. I don't know the that's obvious I'm so used to that that Is that obvious that if already only exists engine right?

Well, here's something to try. Just explore this idea. But it it has been said that the body all me exists mind. Maybe when you're you're sitting in meditation or maybe when you're just lying in bed at night, with your eyes closed? Remove that sense part of it. And focus on the feelings of your body and you feel like we have rms legs and again all different thing. How do you know have those? Well, you feel sensations of different kinds and your mind says, all that sensation that's coming from this part of my body.

So you have the idea of the body exists in the mind. And that idea is based on sensations. But if you go all the way back from the time birds we before you were born. All your mind have to base this idea of the body on was exactly those been statement. So here you have kind of a circle. Know I have delayed because i have demons coming from my way. Well, Why does my mind say those feelings are coming from away? Well, because it's had these feelings all my life and somewhere early on in the process.

Yet put all the feelings that that came in that form into a boxes said this is from way, which is different than the said this is from the back and this right eye miss gun hit. So your mind is actually organized the experience of cessation. To account for them. By creating an image called body. And now this is just based on Figuring. Me say well, yes, of course, but When I open my eyes, I see all of those things too. But what is your visual sensation? Because it's the same thing. There was a point where your mind had to take these swatch of color and contrast and things like that.

And make a certain order sense of that. And well naturally it correlated them with sensation, so when you know, when you see something touching your way, then you also feel sensations, having proper, you know, just really strongly reinforces the idea that there there is way. But the fact is, what you know for certain is only debt. There are certain visual sensations that are rising and so tactile sensations are better arising. And that your mind has and of your body that get Both of those. Sets the sensation prop.

Or that has pain drawn. Okay? So I'll just make a little divergence here that When you are are thinking about this, pondering this question that. It is it true that the mine that the body only me exist them like. Recollect also the experiences you have on a dream. In a dream you see things. Where doing... Where does your visual experience arise? When you're when you're a sleeping in bed. It's obviously rising. Fine. And in your dream you had the same kind of experience that you see something. Touch your leg, for example, and you feel it at the same time.

Yeah. That is a example k where you know, that even the sensations themselves arose directly and the line. Okay? So really what we're saying is sensations arise. Definitely that is the realm of our sensations arrive. And the mind accounts for this station by constructing internally a model of the world way it is in your body and the way it is. To account for all of that. And if it's a good model, it works for you makes sense, you know, and you have have a scene very real, but your body is the way you perceive it to being a world is way you proceeded to be and at every time your body in the world added back, you know, the way you perceive if you get all fits and works together in your model.

Most of the time. If you watch closely, you find that, there's these little Gaps. All out your life, where it doesn't like work, which are mind losses and node skips anything ring that where bottle doesn't work really well. And walked to work. So anyway, you can... When you look at it this way, after you've done that investigation, do you might to agree that? That the body foreigner with the the aggregate form is really an aspect of mine to throughout But doesn't really matter. Then the buddha took...

The buddha of the idea of mine and divided to forty different parts. In order to further illustrate how these difference processes are taking place dependence upon each other, and That what you imagined to be a single thing isn't really there. It was just these collections of processes. So he assessed to focus on feeling. Tingling are pleasant unpleasant and. Whether they're physical feelings, whether they're their mental feelings of happiness and I'm having of forth. And see that that In any given moment depending on what's happening as a feeling britain, lesson, unpleasant for neutral.

And that is That's a division of my that is responsible for taking whatever you're experiencing in moment. And deciding whether to color it happy or color it. Sad or or leave it neutral. But it's always doing that. And when you start to watch it, you realize that well The experience is pleasant. It's my mind reaction to it is to create a feeling. It can take exactly the same experience tomorrow, and it's even neutral or a time button. Right? And you know that. Right? So you can see... Okay. There's a part in my mind that decides Which color to color all of my experience?

Then the second aggregate is or the second of these mental aggregates that we can consider is perception. We have a perception. Like when sensitive events, we have a perception we attached a label and identity to what's occurring following. If you hear a sound or outside you'll recognize it, you know, we'll label that. Oh that's a car. That's a person talking that's what saying me on so forth. But actually all that you heard was sat, It could been a reporting of a car or person clock saying rather than the actual thing.

Or it could have been something different that you mis misinterpreted it. It could have been something trapped offense to end was blowing the sounded like. Sounded like their car, you know, so on it's up there. So As we go through our life, moment by moment, we're are perceiving we're perceiving things, but each perception is created by the mind based on our cast experience you know, the only reason that you would hear sound and say that's a card or a bird it's because you've had previous experience, the cars and birds.

That were sufficiently similar that your mind. Why that perception to it. And when we look at at perceptions, we realize that you know, and this is... This is a common thing and our agent way you're speaking, you know, whatever somebody disagreed disagrees was say well, that's your perception. And I mean we realize that our perceptions chain. That things appear one one way one time and another way and other, they they're different to different people the the perceptions that we experience are constructed by the line.

And are dependent on many factors. Did ben the video. No. You see somebody and they say something, And if you're in one mode, you proceed down as as being angry inpatient that you. But if you're in a different mood, you don't have that perception at all, and you just your city them as making a little jump. Right? You need somebody and you perceive them as being, you know, really up obnoxious jerk. Well, somebody else meets at eight person percent they kinda absolutely charming, you know, moody. So perceptions, are not experiences of some something outside of their mind.

They're actually saying their constructs are rising. Nearby. And your whole life has been a series of perceptions each perception has been painted either pleasant wasn't or left neutral twice on other part of your mind. Based on your test experience based on mood and based on your expectations and areas and now. All those stuff was going on in your line. So you you're starting to see these different number of processes and just looking at those two, You can see that some of our problems, some of our sclerosis, some of our come from the fact that These different aspects of her mind are not always punching in the best way and they're not all functioning with each other.

So Your perception of a meditation session is a good example. All meditation good that hey not gonna sit down and meditate. And some other part of your mind perceives a situation differently. What waste the time, I could be watching my favorite so far some other important attractive activity, but probably not new. But the point is that I I know that you've had that kind of experience where one part than might said, I think this is a good idea to do right now. And the up other part of your mind that says, well, I don't agree.

And and then maybe three or four them and they'll struggle with each other. Or maybe one will be in charge and know just kinda gradually sneak sam against the, the the general idea of like been. Yeah. The other aggregate get he was is about natural formation And really, best we restore all of our past experiences, that's where we reorganize it and everything and we count up with. We come up with the perceptions that we have we come up with interpretations and and the emotions and and everything else So everything that happens to you, there's this part of your mind that take present experience.

And what you might say the prison, the story of your life, I am experiencing death. And then if looks into all of your stored past history and besides how to interpret it and how to react and it generates of natural state emotions. And then out that in the next sequential moment will flow a lot of different perceptions a lot of different feelings was in the ninth lesson. A lot of different actions. So Somebody comes up and says something to you. And what there's what they... What you just heard what ends that interpreted by your mind It's interpreted on the basis of what that person said in the past or done in the past.

What other people saturday done that was in some way similar situation in the center. How it made you feel them know. And so out of all of that, not out of what the person actually said now. But out of all of this, has enter this interpretation based on your general past. Comes the response. You hear it in a particular way, you have a particular kind of feeling a new enter into a particular emotional state. But you'll act speak out. And the next thing, you know you're having your big argument. And you can look at it.

A few hours later can say, well, you know, what sergeant that are even really had back to do but. It was really all old stuff that was going on. You know, there it was old stuff between me and that person, It wasn't the thing that we started talking about at all. You can see that clearly when later on. And you realize this part of my mind, is doing this all over the time. And It has its own agenda, Like these parts of your mind, individual mental processes, don't have a good kind of intelligence that we would like to attribute to the mind as or whole.

And it is a case that the mind that consists of this whole collective processor At least when lucky does exhibit a lot more intelligence than any other parts there by themselves. You know and that's that's what's really great about unification why. In the normal course of things, all these different parts of your mind are like different sq individuals, none of which can see the whole picture, none of which I understands the whole goal. And each of which has its own idea of how course of your behavior their life shouldn't be steered.

And they're basically struggling for control in the sense that they want living. Pattern of behavior that to reflect the the view that each of these processes folds based on its own limited understanding, it's limited goals and so forth. But we go through, life behaving more intelligently than that because there is an arena over online, in which these different conflicting views arise to be examined and compared. And so we have different gee and we have the different ideas but much of the time when these arise into our conscious of awareness not.

That the limited perspective of several different mental processes can become united into to a pattern of behavior and it exhibits far more intelligence, than any of them individually but and it comes from with the shared perspective that happens it consciously. And that's the ordinary situation. The ordinary situation is that your mind is made up of literally thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of natural processes each and in each of which is have a very limited nature. Even when I say that they're hierarchical, there's one up at the top of the pyramid that controls these seven processes each of which controls ten or fifteen mall processes, each of which controls three or four process say you have this whole pyramid.

None. Even the very top one is limited. All it really can work on. Here's the information that comes from the seven processes that get controls and coordinates. So they're all limited by themselves. But the more that that is gathered together, especially in the v conscious of granite. That a unified perspective and unified pattern behavior will arise. Now i talking about here is still the ordinary experience. Is your ordinary man on the street ordinary person in the world. Child dog where. It is operating.

The unification of mine that takes place a meditation. Is building on that, but it is it is over time bringing more and more larger and larger proportion of these different processes into to a coordinated cooperative behavior. Where instead of having different roles and agendas, there is a shared role and agenda the practice referred has contract check. There's parts of your mind, that their goal is to get you the most to the best or the nicest whatever it is proceed. Right? It's operating in a very selfish rate.

And the practice of virtue, temper that, you know, it it causes other processes of mind. That have a different perspective a different advantage to interconnect with those particularly selfish processes can temper them. So that you'd get what's desk for you, but so long as it does cause harm to somebody else so on, So it doesn't involve line, sealing mean things like that. The true identification of mine. As this process continues, has the view of reality becomes more commonly a share amongst more and more of these different processes.

And as the values that they come common, solve these processes and the goals that you as an fatigue in the world whole. How you want to the kind of being that you want to be? And the way you want to manifest in the world. Does that counts to be shared by more and more these different natural processes that make you up you begin to function in a different way. First thing that happens is internal conflict. Disappeared. The other thing that happens is bringing instead of these different parts of your mic, struggling against each other and creating and confusion.

When when the the towers that each of them are becomes aligned with the power and what others do represent. You now have a level of clarity and ability to understand and and interpret and you'll need to see things that goes far beyond what you have with for. You know when we're calculating mine. That's what we're what we're were doing is we're bringing the spotlight into to what's happening in this moment. Being mindful, be mindful of what you're doing. Why they doing it? How you feel about it the reactions, the results it's producing?

What that is doing is that is working towards that place where you're going to through more and more mindfulness, everything begins to simplify everything begins to become much clearer there aren't these conflicts. There aren't case inappropriate emotions there's is a lot of clearing takes place of our old stuff. Of psychological guard that picked up. People treated this way by students in high school and certainly have this view of ourselves that whenever it's triggered by somebody hsa center particularly, it says something, we start acting like still a ninth grade.

And that doesn't work and it hasn't served us. But, you know, for thirty years, we made have been doing it. Until Through unification of blind comes to point where that process, the campaign trigger gets changed against modify. It doesn't do that anymore. There's a recognition that... Well, that's that doesn't belong to present only. And we resolve a lot of our and a lot of our personality patterns that stood in our way. Feelings of of ina or arrogance, you know, the inclination to become defensive and bully are array out of a situation.

All these kinds of things that we see that people manifest all the time. And as you start to understand them more clearly you see, okay, this is coming out of some unconscious processes but think that they're doing what's best. By causing these feelings and these behaviors to right. But you can see that, well, they're not, really this person is just alien aiding the other people around them and making own situation more difficult. So you wanna get to that place where you're no longer being driven while unconscious.

Processes that are just totally out of sync with everything else that's going on in mind. There's a mind you're trying unified a spirit? Change. Yeah. Excuse me just for. So is the process for you to do that through meditation? Is that because there like, another kind of process would go through? This to the... In... In meditation you can bring about... Very powerful unification that might. I mean, you think about that's what you're actually doing and you're saying. Okay. Let's try to get this. Complex active scattered line to do only one thing to calm them down to be focused.

To open up an an expanded awareness. You can translate all of those ideas as to let's get this this scattered bunch of of out of harmony mental processes to begin to harmon synchronize and get in the same program at the same time. Meditation does that. If you just meditate, you can reach your state of profound identification in line, which will last you'll get up and as you start going around in the world, your mind stays unified for a while, every every ordinary instance you run into. Every problem you see or thing that somebody says or whatever.

Triggers those those unify some of those unified elements to cease to be unified and begin to operate on their own programming Yeah. That your meditation, if you really your strong Medicare been doing this a long time and it achieved a high degree identification, you know, your mind may not have reverted it to its ordinary any scattered nature even by the time next time you sit down to meditate. So patient alone can ring this about which is a really good thing, but it's it's limited. If it as soon as you get it for meditation, it's gonna start going every way.

And the only way you're gonna ring it back to together guys they go sit down. This is where it brings the other really important product can, which is the post meditation. Practicing mindfulness that that you... The the state of clarity and only that you achieved and meditation to use that. So that as you you get up for meditation And then each incident that arises that would tend to scatter or might is now met with this this mindfulness in this clarity. And so it what it does is it sustain the unification to a degree in the face of the very challenge that would split off on part of mind into to another splinter.

And you do that in every post meditation period after every medication. And, you know, at first, it may not be all that effective. But the cumulative of effect is after a while, since you're contracting all these these situations the splinter the line, with the power of mindfulness and calm city development meditation... This is where you're able to see that Oh that reaction is totally inappropriate to this situation. And when you see that and understand it clearly, the mental process that was responsible for triggering that reaction.

Is altered. And yeah, when it's all when it's been confronted and altered a number of times in the same way it's permanently changed. It's changed with each confrontation. And it becomes permanently changed if such that it just simply doesn't arise anymore. So you'll have the experience for example, there's you're from to anger and if you practice mindfulness of anger that after and while, gradually may take a long time to gradually, you'll see the utah place where anger may arise, but it doesn't determine on your behavior your speech, then initially come to the place where the anger doesn't even know right.

And that's because the handled process that... Had been producing that response all the time. In way in the dark sensitive didn't mind, without you being aware of that, that you been basically determining your behavior at the moment. That's now changed and a no longer it no longer produces that kind of result. So the the wage remains unified. So I got on roller. And I don't know if I address the. I would you were asking about different. The different process certain and why. One thing that you...

That is really worth spending some time thinking about is that particular formulation that the Buddha offered of the mind is consisting feelings perceptions, metal foundations and consciousness. Which by the way, is an absolute description of, you know, the mind has these four parts. It's a way of looking at the light. You know, but it's a very effective on. Because what we see is has our experience at unfold. Moment a moment. Something happened, we see your feel suffering. And That's just at the level of the sense organ contacts.

This the sense again is and a sensation arrives. But that sensation will produce feeling unpleasant. Then Based on mental formations a perception will arise. And the perception will produce a feeling that may the same or maybe be different than one duration station, you know? So somebody somebody touches your shoulder and that feels good, then you turn around them and you realize if it's somebody making fun of you and your perception, changes it. The perception, that is on what. No. Right. So so somebody that pleasant touch was actually somebody taking and taping a kick me sign to get their back and I I you think of your not examples, but if you if you examine your point that there is a feeling in response to the immediate sensation.

But the perception produces its own view. Which may reinforce that or it may me totally opposite of that anything in between. But that's based on your metal coordination. And it leads to it leads to some kind of action and we would include the reaction thought. Okay. It it could lead to a physical action or a vertical action. It could also just lead to a thought. So you got a sensation and perception pandemic font. And that thought, introduces its own person post. And then it leads to another kind of perception.

And now it's not a perception of what caused the sensation. It's a perception that is more intricate related to our expansive And so this this... This is what's going on constantly. That contact sensation leads feeling feeling leads to the mine's reaction, which is desire or. When we get to the point where We've had a perception and we had a thought about that we're receiving. Usually, at that point, We can really place a desire or version. Having place to train it. Okay. This is pleasant. Feels good.

I want more of impressed. I'm want to continue or we come to replace it. All I don't like this. I don't want this. I wanna to stop. Or if it's not continuing it's... I don't want that to happen again. And so that how do that flows flows as the different behaviors. And of course, what happens to you in the future and maybe will happens stay in the very next moment, or maybe you have happens to tomorrow or next week. But what happens to you in the future is going to be a result of a thought and the creating and the action and you experience there.

And so this is This is the way your whole life experience is is woven moment by moment out of out of these aspects of the mind that through to pinpoint the feeling metal formations and perception. And the medical nations think of that is with thoughts, emotions and the actions. So is the feelings? Perceptions with thoughts the notion and the actions. But kinda.
